Turbat is a town in district Kech of Balochistan.Geographically,socially and poltically, it has been and is still the center of Mekran region. Kech is popular in folklore for the romantic tale of Sassi and Punnu.The lattar was a prince,while sassi was his beloved. The remnants of Punnu's Miri (fort) is still present in Turbat. Dates are a specialty of this area.
